Frequently Asked Questions

Will my treatment be covered by insurance?

We accept most health care insurance. Fax or e-mail us your insurance card when you make appointment online or by phone. You can also bring us your insurance card on your first visit. Our insurance manager will verify your insurance coverage and let you know as soon as possible. Don’t worry even if your treatments are not covered by insurance. We also have variety of cash payment plans that are available for patients. Our staff will put you on a right plan for your needs.

I have chiropractic coverage under my insurance, but you aren't listed in the network.

Not to worry! Just about all PPO plans have "out-of-network" benefits, which means you can go outside the network. There may be a deductible or co-pay for using an out of network provider, but these expenses can be paid in small portions. Please call our office for details.

For a doctor to be listed in the network, he/she usually has to agree to a capitated fee from the insurance company, which in many cases is barely enough to cover operating expenses. As a result, there is an incentive for these doctors to not utilize important treatment modalities, and to spend less time with the patient. If you are willing to pay a small co-pay to see an out-of-network doctor, you are rewarded by receiving more comprehensive care.

My physician has given me a prescription that specifies another rehabilitation clinic. Can I still go to Gwinnett Spine & Sports Rehab for rehabilitation and treatments?

You have the right to choose your rehab provider. Your physician may make recommendations based on the relationship that she or he has with other chiropractic or physical therapy providers, and you have the right to request any provider you wish. If you'd like to use us as your rehab provider, you may bring your physician prescription to us and we will be happy to discuss your choice with your physician if appropriate.

Once you go to a chiropractor, will you have to keep going the rest of your life?

This is a statement we frequently hear when the topic of chiropractic care comes up in conversation. Going to a chiropractor is much like going to the dentist or eating a healthier diet. As long as you keep it up, you will continue to maintain the health of your neuro-musculo-skeletal system. Many years ago, dentists convinced everyone that routine dental care will help your teeth remain healthy for a long time. It is important to remember that just like your teeth, your spine experiences normal wear and tear as you walk, drive, sit, lift and bend. Regular chiropractic care can help you feel better, move with more freedom, and stay healthier throughout your lifetime.

If the conditions I have needs additional medical help, do you have a medical doctor that you work with?

We have list of medical professionals such as neurologist, orthopedist, internal medicine, and orthopedic surgeons that can assist us in diagnosing and treating various conditions.

I am always on the go. Do you offer same day appointments?

In most cases, we can see you the same day you call, during our business hours.

Many medical offices make you wait after the appointment time. What is your policy on that?

Everyone is pressed for time so we make your time our priority. Most visits are seen within 10 minutes of the scheduled appointment time.

Do you take x-rays?

X-rays are the blueprint of your spine. You wouldn't want your dentist drilling your teeth without knowing where the problem is. Why would you want that with your back and spine? We take only the pictures that are absolutely needed. We also have a very modern x-ray system that produces very little radiation.

How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?

If you have been previously treated for a specific injury, pain, or condition, you may want to obtain your records to share with our doctors. Recent X-Rays, MRI’s or other diagnostic reports may expedite the diagnostic process. You will be asked for a Photo ID and Insurance Card (if applicable). You may also download patient intake forms in advance.

How Long Will My Appointment Take?

Your initial visit should last about one hour.

I don’t remember doing anything traumatic or had any kind of accident but I started to have pain, and it is getting worse. Can you explain why?

There are a number of ways to sustain an injury, not all of which require a traumatic, or even memorable, event. Macro-trauma is the type of injury that you will know about. Falling off of a ladder and breaking a leg is an example of macro-trauma. Micro-trauma on the other hand sometimes goes unnoticed until weeks, months, or even years have passed, over which time the body has accumulated significant trauma that eventually manifests as pain or dysfunction. Examples of micro-trauma include repetitive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome or tennis elbow. Let’s go back to the question. It seems like it is an overuse syndrome due to accumulated micro-trauma.
